| Customer Reviews: Not bad at all June 9, 2010 DonH (CA) I just purchased my third one of these for doing simple stereo systems for friends. I also use one in my own vehicle and it is running power to a rockford fosgate power 600.4 and a power 1000.1bd via distribution block (not included in the kit) and using the speaker wire (which is slightly thin but it works just fine) for two Alpine Type R 12's and I haven't had any problems with the fuse or anything else yet. It only came with one set of rca's but I was going to need extra ones anyways for using a 4 and 1 channel amp and a pre-amp EQ so I already knew I would need more. But if your just wiring for a single amp setup for subwoofers or something like that your fine with one set. The kit had enough wire for the length of a Chevrolet Tahoe or a Chevrolet Silverado crew cab, or a Dodge Megacab (separate jobs...obviously.) But for your basic 4 GA wiring setup it does what it says it does and for the price not to bad.
Nice kit...except April 24, 2009 Cristin L. Frazer (Gridley, California United States) 0 out of 4 found this review helpful
I was excited when I found this kit. For the price it seemed like steal considering that most 4ga kits from my local retailers were over $100. The power and ground wires were plenty long and seemed like a true 4 gauge as opposed to some of the cheap kits out there where 4 gauge is actually closer to 6. The fuse was a beefy 80amps and the remote wire was a nice length and a more than substantial 16ga.
Then I pulled out the speaker wires and RCA cables. The RCA's were a bit flimsy but whatever. They would work. I'm wasn't planning on using this kit to compete by any means. All I wanted was nice clean sound. Besides. Bigger RCA's are easy to buy and easy to install if I ever decided I needed to do that. The speaker wires were another story. Most 4ga kits come with 10 or 12 gauge speaker wires. This kit came with 16 gauge. WAY too small! Most amps that call for a a 4 gauge power connection will specify a MINIMUM 12 gauge wire for speakers. With that much power coming in it needs some big wires coming out, right? This kit just wasn't going to deliver that. What started out as a inexpensive kit got expensive fast when I had to go to my local car audio retailer and buy a spool of 12 gauge wire. The guy at the store rolled his eyes when I showed him the kit. Apparently I wasn't the first person to have this problem. I asked what would happen if I were to just use the 16 gauge wires and he stated that depending on the volume I was playing the wires would melt within 30-45 minutes of use. Great.
It would have been nice had Amazon posted the specs of this kit. I wouldn't have bought it had I known some of the shortfalls. If you're going to run an amp at 200 watts or less this kit would probably work fine but then again you wouldn't need a 4 gauge kit either.
